DESCRIPTION:The Capital Region Blues Network (CRBN) presents a fund-raising event to benefit our “Blues in the Schools” program. CRBN provides school districts\, BOCES\, special education programs and after-school programs with educational classes delivered by regional and nationally recognized blues artists. Blues In The Schools classes can meet the needs of every age range from pre-school to pre-college. CRBN provides this service at no cost to the schools. \n\n\n\nThe event features the Amy Ryan Band whose latest album “Brighter and Brighter” recently entered the Roots Music Reports Blues Chart at #20 alongside the likes of modern blues masters such as Tommy Castro and Janiva Magness. ARB will be joined by several special guests including\, for the first time live\, a horn section! \n\n\n\nOpening the show will be Mark and Jill who meld their vision and talent for a taste of New Orleans meets Austin. NY Blues Hall of Fame bluesman Mark Tolstrup and sultry Texas singer Jill Burnham come together where the Delta meets the Rio Grande. As a special treat for us\, Mark and Jill will add bass and drums for part of their set. \n\n\n\nThe event will feature a silent auction with some great blues-related items\, a 50-50 raffle and opportunities to learn more about the work of CRBN and sign up for membership. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 2pm. Mark and Jill will hit the stage at 2.30pm with the Amy Ryan Band performing at 3.45pm. \n\n\n\nTickets are $20 in advance and $25 on the door. All proceeds benefit CRBN’s Blues in the Schools program.

DESCRIPTION:During his renowned stage show Bobby Rush frequently jumps high into the air\, arms spread and legs tucked\, only to land gracefully and return without a hitch to his dazzling routine. It’s a move you might expect at a contemporary R&B show\, but it’s downright shocking when you realize that Rush is in his late 80s.  \n\n\n\n“I never thought I would be here this long\,” says Rush. “I was 83 years old before I won a Grammy\, but it’s better late than never. I laugh about it\, but I’m so blessed and I surely never thought I’d be making a living doing what I’m doing. I’m not just an old guy on my way out.”  \n\n\n\nHardly. Rush’s busy schedule includes headlining European festivals with his band and solo programs at venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center\, and he just recorded an album of brand new material\, All My Love For You\, coming out via his own label Deep Rush Records in collaboration with Nashville-based Thirty Tigers. Over the last several years he’s won a second Grammy\, re-recorded his 1971 hit “Chicken Heads” together with his old friend Buddy Guy and young blues star Christone “Kingfish” Ingram\, and written a critically acclaimed autobiography\, I Ain’t Studdin’ You: My American Blues Story.
